On November 13, 2012, several authorities on RLUIPA will be participating in a teleconference with the International Municipal Lawyers Association.Professor Dan Mandelker and Dwight Merriam will be moderating the discussion between Steven Elrod, Dan Dalton, and John Bauer on all things RLUIPA.

Here are the details:
“The Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act continues to provide religious institutions leverage in getting local land use approvals, while causing consternation for municipalities which often find it difficult to see bright lines in a somewhat murky statute. Get ready for some verbal fisticuffs as we match up Steven (the Sledgehammer) Elrod of Holland & Knight, the highly-regarded defender of all things governmental, against Dan the Devastator Dalton of Dalton Tomich Pensler, widely-known for his successful litigation of religious rights claims. And to take it up a notch, we throw in John Boom-Boom Bauer of Robinson & Cole LLP in Boston, who has lived to tell the tale of taking on an evangelical church determined to build a church twice the size of a Home Depot. Join us as the sparks fly. “
You can register for the teleconference here.Dont miss it.
